Tab Keeper ("we", "us") is a browser extension that saves your open tabs into a shelf with versioned, verified backups. This policy explains what we collect and why. The short version: on the free plan, your tab data never leaves your browser. Only if you subscribe to Pro (Cloud Backup) is your tab data stored on our server, and only so we can give it back to you.
Free plan: nothing leaves your browser
All saved tabs, groups, snapshots, and trash live in Chrome's local extension storage on your machine. We do not receive, see, or store any of it. You don't need an account to use the free plan.
Pro plan (Cloud Backup): what we store
Your tab snapshots. If you subscribe to Pro, the extension automatically replicates your snapshots — the URLs and titles of your saved tabs, with group names and timestamps — to our server so you can restore them on any computer, including after uninstalling the extension. That is the entire point of the feature, and it is the only reason this data is collected.
Where. Snapshots are stored on our server hosted by Hetzner in the EU.
Deletion. Backups are deleted when you delete them, and all of your data is deleted when you close your account. Cancelling Pro stops new uploads; you can delete stored backups at any time before or after.
Account identity
Your name and email, provided when you sign in through our authentication provider (Clerk). If you sign in with Google, Google shares your name, email, and profile picture per your consent. A session token keeps you signed in so the extension can talk to our backend on your behalf.
What we do not collect
Your browsing history (we only see tabs you explicitly saved, and only on Pro), page contents, cookies from other sites, your card details (payments are handled entirely by Stripe), location, health data, or personal communications. We do not sell your data — to anyone, ever.
Service providers
We share data with processors strictly to operate the product: Clerk (authentication) and Stripe (payments — we never see or store your card details). Each handles data under its own policy. Pro snapshot data is stored on infrastructure rented from Hetzner (EU) and is not shared with anyone.
Retention & your rights
We retain your account data while your account is active, and Pro backups until you delete them or close your account. You may request access, correction, or deletion at any time by emailing support@hyperbach.com.
